After the Eruption

lava river

Aloha and WELCOME to Big Island Bed and Breakfast. Many things have changed here on the island after the 2018 Kilauea eruption. Places that used to be great to visit have changed dramatically and new places have taken the lead in guest experiences.

How can you know where to go anymore?

Easy, just book a room with us using this link and receive a complimentary overview of the eruption complete with first hand accounts and video experiences in the safety and comfort of our own onsite theater. ( Wait, what? You have an onsite theatre? Yes…)

We have maps to show you the changes to the island as well as some actual artifacts from the great Fissure 8 also.

Even more important for you is the inside local information that will help you explore the island safely, respectfully, and most of all memorably.

“You’ll wish you stayed here longer”

We take the time to answer your questions and make sure you spend your time doing what interests you most. Our guests are always so grateful for the information and advice we share because the majority of the information out there is just wrong. Take this map for instance:

outdated map

My daughter runs our social media and she wanted me to add a star showing where we were located on this map. I told her I am unable to do that because the map is WRONG. The locations and information presented would be a disservice to any island visitors.

Now SOME of the information is correct, however anyone using this for a trip to Green Sand Beach will be very disappointed about the distance (its accessible but much farther than expected usually) and it completely misses the other very cool things to see in this part of the island! Not to mention many of the locations are gone and the roads closed now.

We are working on a new comprehensive map of where to go and what to do on the Hawaii Island, affectionally referred to as the ‘Big Island’ and will happily post that when its ready.

For now take advantage of our special offer for a complimentary video lava experience and personalized attention to your itinerary to make this your best trip ever!
